Jenny Hanna Hirvonen is a fashion designer based in Copenhagen. She graduated as Master of Arts in Fashion design in June, 2016 from DSKD. 2015 February-August and did internship at the Vibskov Studio. Spring 2016, she worked as a freelance designer for the Finnish company L-Fashion Group/Luhta and Henrik Vibskov Studio in Copenhagen helping with creating the men's and women's collections while finishing my MA collection and thesis.
Currently Jenny works as a technical designer (full-time) at Henrik Vibskov assisting the Product Manager and working closely with the rest of the design team in collection development, artworks, graphic design etc. At Henrik VIbskov she worked together on projects with Danish artists to raise funds for the Red Barnet (Danish Red Cross for Children).
Before moving to Denmark, Jenna worked for a Finnish company L-Fashion Group Oy/ Luhta as a womens and menswear designer, 2011-2014. She started as a menswear designer for outdoor and sportswear 2011 and since 2013 summer she designed full women's sportswear collections. The collections (six full RTW-collections and two smaller productions) have been between 80-140 products per season.
Dressing up is a performance every individual goes trough daily. Each morning we establish an image and identity for ourselves through the simple act of getting dressed.
Fashion permits a person to fantasise and to experiment with new identities. Dress challenges boundaries between the private and public: it frames the body and serves both to distinguish and connect self and others. What happens in the short period of time when we wake up, starting from the ground zero (undressed body) and are supposed to step outside of our private sphere to the public is what interests me.
The designs are inspired by a fictional day of a woman and the collection is divided into three sections: Morning, Day and Night.
The prints, colours and textures are inspired by the visual elements and associations that surround the day. The clothes are cut from well selected materials such as silk, satin and linen, using subtle colour tones to accentuate the shape of the cloth. The silhouettes and colours gradually change throughout the collection reflecting the transformations we go through each day and providing a wardrobe for different occasions, day and night.
