Michael Vos

Michael Vos is a German womanswear designer who recently graduated from ESMOD Berlin among the 25 best collections with a special recognition by winning the university award "Golden Needle" for his graduate collection "Pariade". His collection combines the different stages of Michael's life by considering his childhood experiences in his hometown Wesel as inspiration, using artisanal, couture-like fabric treatment and finishings from his dressmaking apprenticeship as physical influence and developing his recent professional experiences from working in Paris, London and Berlin. He has a particular interest in product development with creative patternmaking and draping. Michael Vos started in fashion with a three-year apprenticeship at Pio O'kan Studios in Düsseldorf where he learned the profession of a couture dressmaker with the best examination result of his year. He directly moved to Paris afterwards and worked six months at the fashion company Sharon Wauchob before starting the BA program at ESMOD Berlin. During his studies he sucessfully participated in several competitions and workshops with for example Patrick Mohr who showed Michael's garment on Berlin Fashion Week as part of his own show. A year later he developed his capsule collection '2015: A Futurespective' which combined 60's retro aesthetics and contemporary elements with a focus on details and material mix. The completion of an internship at Peter Pilotto studio in London in summer 2014 led him into his final year to graduate and encouraged him to place his graduate collection in a high-end segment.
